Spider-Man: Brand New Day is confirmed as one of the most anticipated films by MCU fans. After the resounding success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and that ending that completely rewrote Peter Parker’s fate, the interest around the new chapter of Spider-Man has never stopped growing, fueled by rumors, cast announcements and fan speculation. And just in the last few hours a new detail pops up: the one with Tom Holland will be the longest film ever dedicated to the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland returns with a record-breaking film
According to what emerged through the official AMC website, Spider-Man: Brand New Day should last two hours and thirty minutes. An important time, longer than that of any Spider-Man film ever made, even that of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the 2021 film-event that had brought together multiple generations of Spider-Man and transformed the theatrical release into an unforgettable shared experience for Marvel audiences.
The figure is significant because it suggests a more substantial story than expected. It would not only be the fourth solo film with Tom Holland, but above all a new phase for Peter Parker, who has to face his life after the spell of Doctor Strange. MJ and Ned, in fact, no longer remember who he is, the world has forgotten his identity and the character seems ready to start again from a more solitary dimension, perhaps closer to the classic spirit of comics.
Such a long running time therefore suggests that the film wants to take time to rebuild its protagonist, but also to insert new dynamics within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The new entries in the cast
Alongside Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will bring back several faces already loved by fans. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will in fact return as MJ and Ned, two fundamental characters in Peter Parker’s life. Their return makes one of the film’s great unknowns even more interesting: how much space will be given to the consequences of the spell that erased Peter from everyone’s memory? Will the story start immediately from there or will it choose to calmly build the weight of that loss?
Among the most anticipated returns are also Mark Ruffalo, once again as Bruce Banner, and Jon Bernthal as Punisher. A couple that lets you imagine an adventure with a more intense and earthly cut, capable of mixing the typical energy of Spider-Man with decidedly rougher and more unpredictable characters. It is no coincidence that, in these hours, the hypothesis of a confrontation between the Wall Climber and Savage Hulk is also circulating, although for now there are no official confirmations.
Great curiosity is around Sadie Sink, the leading face of Stranger Things, ready to make her entry into the MCU with a character still shrouded in mystery. Her involvement, however, has already sparked fan theories and many continue to dream of her in the role of Jean Grey. For the moment, however, this is only speculation. Among the novelties of the cast there will also be Tramell Tillman, appreciated in Severance, while Michael Mando finally seems destined to turn into Scorpion, one of the most anticipated villains. We will only find out on July 31, with the theatrical release of the film, if it will be true.
